The Great Pancake Flip-off is back!

The much-anticipated return of the St Albans Pancake festival is here! This beloved event is set to grace the streets of St Albans once again this year, and the entire community is invited to take part and enjoy! Join us on Shrove Tuesday, 17th February 2026 as teams showcase their flipping expertise to compete for the highly regarded Pancake trophies, awarded to the fastest running and walking teams.

Now in its ninth year, the St Albans Pancake Festival is organised by local children’s charity, Home-Start Hertfordshire, in collaboration with Business Buzz.

Last year, the festival raised a fabulous £7,215. These funds contributed to supporting local families facing vulnerabilities and in need of assistance, helping them navigate and overcome their challenges. Your participation ensures both a thrilling experience and a meaningful impact on the well-being of families in our community.

Home-Start Herts are delighted that Bonne Maman are Headline Sponsors for the event:

Home-Start Hertfordshire and Business Buzz extend a warm invitation to all, to join in the fun in St Albans City Centre on Shrove Tuesday. Embrace the fun filled atmosphere by participating in the walking and running pancake flipping races, in teams of 4. Teams must be pre-booked in advance, with a maximum of 2 teams per organisation. Reserve your team now: www.pancake.events and be part of the flipping excitement!

When asked her thoughts on the St Albans Pancake Festival, Liz Le Coze, Business Development Manager at Home-Start Hertfordshire, said:

“We are thrilled to be back on the streets of St Albans for the tenth year! The pancake race is going from strength to strength; it is such a fantastic event which brings the community together. We are delighted to be inviting everyone to take part in the races or to come along to join the excitement!

We hugely appreciate having the ongoing support of Bonne Maman as Headline Sponsor for the event. Having their support means the money raised can go directly towards supporting families who are struggling. Huge thanks also to Simon George from Business Buzz for his support with the organisation.

The Pancake Festival is a great opportunity for us to spread the word about what Home-Start Herts does and to also raise essential funds to support families going through hard times. We hope to see you all there to enjoy the fun!”

The St Albans Pancake festival will take place on Tuesday 17th February in the city centre, outside the museum. Registration is at 11.30am and the races start at 12 noon. Book early to enjoy an early bird entry fee of £60 per team of 4, (£75 after 16th January). There are a limited number of free team entries for charities.
